How did VoterProb® happen?

A few years ago, a mutual friend decided to run for public office. As the candidate’s Campaign Manager and Data Manager, we ran the campaign. Together, we faced the existential question when building a Universe of likely voters:

Who votes?

We were not satisfied with the same old way of building a base of support, typically just targeting those who voted in the last election. It was a group that was too vague, with no definitive way of grading voters. After all, voting is existentially human behavior.

Finding no clear solution using any campaign management system, we at first created a voter score that we used to build Class A, B, and C voters. The class determined the level and priority of outreach.

Over time, we perfected the algorithm to provide a simple probability of voting, and when we ran a report of actual voter turnout versus predicted voter turnout, we discovered how remarkably accurate the VoterProb® system is.

Since then, we’ve rolled out our analytics for numerous campaigns and political organizations. The feedback we most often hear from candidates, campaign managers, staffers, Ward Leaders, and others is, “How did I ever manage without VoterProb®?” This is a testament to just how easy and intuitive the analytics are in a broad array of uses.
